Case Study

A state of the art space to showcase bathroom and lighting systems was the remit from Schlüter-Systems Ltd and WorkBox were happy to oblige. Our design team created a large bespoke work area meeting their needs at the company’s UK head office in Coalville in Leicestershire.

The project required the new space to be flexible and meet their daily needs now and in the future. The new layout allows the client to change the layout and floor plan to suit their operational and working needs quickly and efficiently. The space allows Schlüter-Systems to showcase various products including Kerdi Board, Bekotec Therm, and Schiene to their clients. The finished installation included a large jumbo wall partitioning, LED lighting, electrical and a unique ceiling design. The project was completed on time over a four week programme.

Within the new space, WorkBox created various display ‘pods’ which demonstrated the client’s products in situ with cross sections allowing clients to review and observe. The pods were designed to show different angles of a finished room such as a bathroom, kitchen or shower/sauna. Each pods was electrically fed via bespoke ceiling matrix of ‘click’ connections for total flexibility. The works also included the design and installation of a large bespoke roller blind which covered an existing metal shutter door, thus giving the continuous clean wall aspect for the room.

Schlüter-Systems Ltd is the market leader for tile installation products. The company was started over 40 years ago by Werner Schlüter, a young master tile installer. He was laying tiles in a bathroom with five doors and he came up with the idea of using Schlüter-SCHIENE, using profiles which provided a perfect and elegant finish for the rather “complex” Florentine tile he was laying. The product became the first in a long line of successful products and systems that have made Schlüter-Systems KG the largest and most innovative supplier in the industry. The firm now employs more than 800 people across Europe and the USA.

The UK base for Schlüter-Systems Ltd, situated in Coalville, Leicestershire, was opened in 1993. It provides full sales and technical support for customers in the UK and is headed by MD Joachim Backes. The firm have been shortlisted for the Bupa Wellbeing at Work Award at this year’s Business in the Community’s Responsible Business Awards.
